Paulina the plant whisperer

Paulina and I met soon after she moved to our area in Northern California. We needed someone to watch our forest home and dog and she needed a place to ground in for a few weeks while taking in the new scenery. This Cancerian moves with care and consideration to her environment while living closely to the whispers of the plants. A gifted herbalist and alchemist Paulina has developed many herbal products and is in the process of creating her own clean skincare line to launch next year. 

What are your go-to herbs/ plant allies?

My favorite herbs change all the time, honestly. I always move with what intuitively moves me in the moment. I love the nutritive category of herbs, herbs that flood your body with minerals. Herbs like Oatstraw, Nettle, and Red Clover.. A few that I will carry with me until the end are Holy Basil, Chamomile, Rosemary, Schisandra Berry, Linden, Myrrh.. On and on :) 

When did you first hear the whisper of the plants? When did you know it was time to devote to their wisdom?

I was visiting a bee farm in Vietnam when a young girl, probably about 14 years old, led me to a big garden where the entire underdeveloped village would come for their medicine. Gingers, mints and all kinds of colorful flora.. It felt like that exact moment where I felt this impulse to study the wisdom beneath all of our feet. 

What is your favorite time of day and some rituals you love during this time?

Good question.. The sun is a deep medicine for me but I come alive when the night sky falls. Sitting around fires, my herbal formulation brain, the night sky, hot springs in the dark… Perhaps it has to do with all my Scorpion placements ;) I love the ritual of sweat and prayer, body oiling + herbal yoni steaming.. Dreaming up a world I want to create and participate in.. with a cup of Shatavari Chai.

I know you are a big Beatles fan. Which songs have inspired you most on your journey and why?

Ahh.. The Beatles are in my cells from being raised by a musician father.. My favorite album is With the Beatles.. You will find me at every local Beatles cover band show. I wouldn’t say there is a specific song that directly inspires me, but moreso the feelings of familiarity, ultimate joy and freedom elicited from their mastery.

What are you working on right now? And how can folks keep in touch with you?

I’ve been wanting to launch a brand for 4 years, and I don’t want to say too much right now, but there are some serious formulations in the works for botanical beauty and vitality.. And I can’t wait to deliver. Please stay in touch with my instagram page for now.. ;) @pauliapassionflower
